Bar Soap

Oregon Rain handmade soap bars are really made with Oregon rainwater that we collect, filter and purify ourselves. Our handmade soap is made using a method called cold process soapmaking.  

We use rainwater to make our handmade soap because it's a soft water and a natural resource adding uniqueness to our soap bars. We also use olive oil for its skin conditioning and moisturizing properties and coconut, rice bran and castor oils to provide a gentle, creamy, fluffy lather. We use natural colorants, herbs, nutrients and essential oils for aromatherapy benefits when we can. Otherwise, we use cosmetic grade colorants and fragrance oils for vibrant color and scent. Each handmade soap bar is aged for at least 30 days. Not only will the soap last longer, but it will also be at the optimum mildness.

For years Oregon Rain Soap boycotted all palm oils because it has damaging environmental and social effects – forests have been cleared or destroyed to grow palm oil, harming natural habitats, vulnerable flora and fauna, as well as local communities. Many farmers and labourers producing palm oil amidst unsustainable conditions have suffered from unfair labour practices and low pay.

So what is RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil?  Sustainable palm oil has been farmed, processed, distributed, and sold responsibly with strict rules that protect animals, the environment and people who live and work in oil palm producing countries. It has involved:

• Halting deforestation;
• Treating communities and workers fairly; and
• Protecting wildlife and the environment.

Oregon Rain Soap chose to use RSPO Certified Sustainable palm oil because it is good for the planet, for people and for protected species. Oil from Palms have much higher yields than any other vegetable oil crops. Productivity is its standout quality – they require four to ten times less land than other vegetable oil crops to get the same amount of oil.
